    Travels of Paul

    Paul made a total of three journeys. Paul's first journey started in the year 45 and ended in 49. He traveled with Barnabas a converted jew. His second trip started in 49 and ended in 52 and on this journey he went back to check up on his christian communities he helped on his first trip. Paul's third journey took place from 52 to 57. On this journey he went back to those communities and went for Ephesus, an ancient greek city which at the time was the capital of the Roman province of asia.

    On July 19th 64 a fire broke out among the shops lining the Circus Maximus

    The Battle of Milvian Bridge

    On October 28th 312 Constantine defeated his rival Maxentius at the battle of Milvian Bridge. Maxentius and his forces tried to retreat across the Tiber but the bridge became overcrowded quickly. Because of this the bridge collapsed and they were sent down the river.

    The Edict of Milan

    The Edict of Milan was a letter signed by the Roman emperors Constantine and Licinius that proclaimed religious toleration in the Roman Empire. The letter was issued in February 313 ad and stopped the persecution of Christians.

    Theodosius' Reign

    In 380 ad the emperor Theodosius issued the Edict of Thessalonica which made Nicene Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire. Most other Christians were deemed heretical and lost their legal status and had their properties confiscated by the Roman state.
