After the end of World War 2, British awarded Chin Peng the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for succesfully leading the guerrillas against the Japanese.

The second day after Chin Peng was awarded the OBE, 3 European plantation managers were killed at Sungei Siput by members of the Communist Party of Malaya (MCP). The MCP was later decalred to be illegal.

Baling talks with David Marshall and Tunku Abdul Rahman was held. Chin Peng left to Thailand after the Baling Talks.

The Malayan Emergency was declared at an end. However, special Malaysian gvernment troops called "Senoi Praaq" continues the fight. The emergency lasted for 12 years.
