    The game of basketball as it is known today was created by Dr. James Naismith in December 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts, to condition young athletes during cold months.

These two teams were composed of the best players at that time. Eventually, the East would beat the West 111-94. This would be the beginning of a tradition in the NBA, making the all-star game is seen as a huge accomplishment for an NBA career

    The Shot Clock was introduced by the NBA to make the Basketball Games Longer and for each team to have higher scores than they already have. The team was given twenty-four seconds to shoot and hit the rim, if the rim is untouched when time expires, this is a violation and the other team is given the ball.

    The ABA–NBA merger was a major pro sports business maneuver in 1976 when the American Basketball Association (ABA) combined with the National Basketball Association (NBA), after multiple attempts over several years. this was a pivotal moment in basketball as the NBA would keep 7 teams from the ABA and bring in much talent. This took away any competition as the two biggest basketball leagues in the world had combined to make one.

    The three-point line was put on the court in 1986. For Men, the 3-point line changed from 19ft. to 20 ft. in 1994, but for women, it is still the same. The rule is that the player can score three points if the player is behind the three-point line as he shoots.
