American Basketball Association (ABA) was founded
The ABA was initially an alternative to the NBA. It offered a different style of playing the game (slam-dunk, three-point shots) and emphasized excitement and liveliness. Its signature was the red-white-and-blue colored ball in gameplay. -
ABA Merge with NBA
The ABA folded into NBA. Four of its most successful franchises were added to the older league (New York Nets, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs). -
