    Alexander Cartwright created the rules for the game of baseball hat each team should follow in order to play.

    The first ever baseball game that was written about was between the Knickerbockers and the New York Baseball Club. The New York Baseball Club won this game played in Hoboken, New Jersey.
  • Organized League was Created

    The first organized baseball league was created with 25 different teams involved.
  • First Professional Team

    The first ever professional baseball team was the Cincinnati Red Stockings.
  • Professional Baseball League Created

    The first ever professional baseball league was created because more and more players wanted to be paid to play. The league was created with 9 different teams. This league of professional teams was called the National Association.
  • More teams created

    From the original nine teams, it grew to 13 teams. The original name for the league, the National Association, was replaced with the National League.
  • New League formed

    The American Association was created that had lower ticket prices in bigger cities.
  • Players League

    The players were mad about the American Association, so they tried to leave and create their own league, which was called the Union Association.
  • A new challenge

    The American League was created. After they started playing games, the American League tried to steal the best players of the National League.
  • First World Series

    The first World Series or baseball championship was played on October 1, 1903. The game was between the Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Red Sox were named the champions of this game.

    The Federal League was created in hopes to show presence in both the courtroom and on the field.
  • Babe Ruth

    A star pitcher of the Red Sox was signed by the New York Yankees as an outfielder. Babe Ruth was an amazing homerun hitter in the league and has become one of the best players ever. This started the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees rivalry.
  • Jackie Robinson

    Jackie Robinson became the first ever black player to play professional baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. However, he was faced with a lot of hate and discrimination.
  • Strike

    Many players were on strike for the start of the 1972 season, which delayed the season by 13 days.
