A smallpox epidemic broke out in Eora Aboriginal people of Port Jackson, Botany Bay and Broken Bay due to the First Fleet traveling to Australia. The majority of the Aborigines died from the diesease. The whole population of Tasmania was wiped out. -
Australian Gold-Rushes
In the 1850's, gold was sighted in several regions of Australia. This attracted "diggers," and gold was sought out everywhere. This event surely had an effect on Australia's economy. Gold is one of Australia's greatest natural resources. -

Aborigines Protection Act
The Aborigines Protection Act, signed in 1909, commenced its amendments which became law. This act gave New South Wales' Aborigines Protection Board the capibility to remove any indigenous child from their parent/guardian just according to race. Children were being taken, and this is what created a generation called the "Stolen Generation." -

Queen Elizabeth II,the monarchy, arrived in Sydney to begin an eigth-week tour of Australia.This was Australia's first visit with a British monarch. Most say it was a huge sucess. -
