    Democritus

    Democritus
Citation Democritus lived from 460 to 370 B.C. He is known for calling particles atoms. He also studied astronomy and theology.
  • Period: 460 to

    Time

  • John Dalton

    John Dalton
Citation John Dalton was a chemist who went back on Democritus's ideas. He said that the atoms look like spheres. He lived from 1766 to 1844.
  • J.J Thompson

    J.J Thompson
Citation JJ Thompson lived from 1856 to 1940. He found electrons by using a Cathode Ray tube. He made the chocolate chip cookie model, and won the 1906 Nobel Prize in Physics.
  • Ernest Rutherford

    Ernest Rutherford
Citation Ernest Rutherford lived from 1871 to 1937. He was a student of JJ Thompson, and then figured out that Thompson's model was wrong. He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1908.
  • Niels Bohr

    Niels Bohr
Bohr\ Niels Bohr lived from October 7, 1885 to November 18, 1962. He added to the idea of electrons by saying they orbit the nucleus of the atom without losing energy. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922.
  • James Chadwick

    James Chadwick
Citation James Chadwick lived from October 20, 1891 to July 24, 1974. He discovered the neutron whcih led to him getting the Nobel Prize in 1935.
  • Werner Heisenburg

    Werner Heisenburg
Heisenburg Heisenburg lived from December 5, 1901 to February 1, 1976. He studied quantum mechanics, which got him a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1932.
