Aristotle's Discorery
(Approximate Date). Aristotle stated that all things are made of matter. He also said that everything is composed of the five elements in which he believed existed: fire, water, earth, air, and aether. -
Period: 332 to
Atomic Theory
-
John Dalton's Discovery
(Approximate Date). He created a theory that stated: All elements are created from atoms but differ from other elements atoms. He also introduced compounds. The final part of his theory stated that when elemets are joined, seperated, or rearranged a chemical reaction occurs. -
J.J. Thompson's Discovery
(Approximate Date). He invented the Cathode Ray. -
Max Planck's Discovery
(Approximate Date). He created a theory that he called Planck's Postulate that described the stability of electrons and other subatomic particles. -
Earnest Rutherford's Discovery
(Approximate Date). He noticed one day while conducting an experiment that the alpha beams didn't go straight though the foil, instead they deflected in diffrent directions. -
Niehls Bohr's Discovery
(Approximate Date). Using Planck's Quantum Theory he concluded that electrons circle around the nucleus of an atom. -
J.J. Thompson's 2nd Discovery
He dicovered isotopes by sending ionized Neon through an electric field -
Erwin Schrodinger's Discovery
(Approximate Date). He came up with the quantum mechanical atomic model wich showed the constant motion of the ring around the nucleus. -
Democritus' Discovery
(Approximate date). He created the Atomic Theory which stated thatall things are made up of atoms.
