Magic Lantern
The Magic Lantern was created by Christiaan Hugens. He was a Dutch scienist who crated an image projector using pictures on sheets of glass. It might be the first example of projected animation ever. -
Thaumatrope
It's a rotating rope with a different picture on each side. It was a popular toy because if created an optical illusion for the person. John Ayrton Paris made it. -
Phenakitoscope
It's similar to the Thaumatrope, but stationed on a spinning disk reflected in mirrors. Since the contraption spins fast, it seems like the pictures were moving. It's creator was Joseph Plateau. -
Zoetrope
It's very similar to the Phenakistoscope, which spins but it's mirrored up to the person viewing instead. It was invented by William Horner and was a hollow drum that housed images. It spins and creates the illusion to have moving images. -
Flip-Book
The classic flip-book, and you've probably done something similar to it back in a younger age. It's also known as a kineograph. John Barnes Linnett invented this, which inspired a lot of animators to create their animations. -
Praxinoscope
Every since the invention of the zoetrope, many people are trying to improve it better. One better variant was the Praxinoscope. It was the same thing as the Zoetrope, but with multiple wheels to create an animation. -
Fantasmagorie
Fantasmagorie was considered to be the first animated cartoon ever. It was a silent movie that lasted for 1 minute and 10 seconds. It was hand-drawn by Emile Cohl. -
Felix the Cat
Felix the Cat was classified as the first Animated movie star. He first star'd in Feline follies in 1919. It's creators are Otto Messmer and Pat Sullivan -
Steamboat Willie
The iconic Mickey Mouse, Steamboat Willie was the first sound printed on film. Made by Walt Disney Studios, Steamboat Willie has Mickey Mouse on a ship, steering it while whistling. It was first created and shown at 1928. -
Snow White
Snow White was the first ever animated movie to use hand-drawn animations. It also was the first animation which Disney used Technicolor for it's showing. It is also the 10th highest grossing film in the US. -

It was the first film fully CGI-animated. It was created by The Graphics Group, now known as Pixar. -

The Simpsons is an American adult animation sitcom created by Matt Groening. It is, so far, the longest running American sitcom and animation program. First created in 1987, the show has over 654 episodes so far at the time of typing this.
