    In Search of The New World
    A group of 120 pilgrims sailed from England to America, "The New World", on the ship the Mayflower.
    They wanted religious and political freedom.
  • The Ship Reached Land

    The Ship Reached Land
    The pilgrims saw a good place and decided to build a village there.
    Each family built a small house and they had land to plant and keep their animals.
  • The Native American

    The pilgrims met a Native American. They taught the pilgrims how to grow corn, beans and pumpkins.

    Other people wanted to know The New World.
    Countries like Great Britain, Spain or France also colonized the lands of North America.
  • The Colonies Joined.

    The Colonies Joined.
    The British army and colonist won the war against France and got some land.
    The British go vernment asked for taxes from the colonists to pay for the war and the colonies decided to join together to fight the British.
  • The Declaration of Independence.

    The colonies declared independence from Great Britain.
    The colonists, led by George Washington, fought difficult battles.
    In the end, they defeated the British and they called their new nation the United States of America.
  • France Sell Louisiana.

    France Sell Louisiana.
    The French Emperor Napoleon offered to sell the land to the United States and the President, Thomas Jefferson, accepted. This doubled the size of the country.

    The country extended from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. The Native American population began to suffer.
    The US Government forced more than 15000 Cherokee people to leave their homes in Georgia and walk to Oklahoma. Around 4.000 Cherokee people died on the way.

    The people in the south, live on plantations and own slaves, but the people in the north want to abolish slavery.
    The people in the south want to leave the Union but the President Lincoln wants to keep the country together and to end slavery.
  • Civil War Begins.

    The south think they´re a different nation from the Union in the north and the war begins.
  • The South Was Losing

    The South Was Losing
    The confederates, the people of the south are losing, because they have fewer soldiers than the Union.
  • The War Ended.

    The War Ended.
    The Confederate army leader, surrendered to General Ulysses Grant, the Union army leader and the war ended with thousands of dead.
