    Operation Desert Storm started in January 1991 and finished on February 28th, just over a month later. The Iraqi military’s reluctance to stop its invasion of Kuwait prompted the appeal for the operation. Former president George H.W. Bush declared a cease fire after 42 days of assaults and bombardment. The majority of the Iraqi forces had already left Kuwait at this point.

    The Canadian federal and provincial governments put forth a series of proposed constitutional modifications known as the Charlottetown Accord in 1992. On October 26, it was put to a vote among the public, and it lost.

    A trilateral economic bloc in North America was established when Canada, Mexico, and the United States signed the North American Free Trade Agreement. NAFTA aims to remove all tariff and non-tariff trade and investment obstacles between the US, Canada, and Mexico. It collapsed on July 1st 2020 and was replaced by USMCA.

    Rwandan genocide
    Nearly a million moderate Hutus and ethnic Tutsis were massacred during this 100-day span between April and July 1994, all while the international community and UN forces looked on. Rwanda was in ruins after the war concluded in July 1994. Millions of people were uprooted, its fundamental infrastructure was devastated, and many Tutsis who survived had lost their relatives.

    Nisga’a First Nation Treaty
    The treaty was negotiated between Canada, British Columbia, and the Nisga’a Nation and became the first full modern treaty in British Columbia. The treaty preserves Nisga’a hunting and fishing rights in the Nass wildlife area and Nass area, and acknowledges Nisga’a lands.

    On September 11th of 2001, four planes were hijacked. Two of the planes had crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City, both towers collapsed. Nearly 3000 people were killed.
