    H.M.S Olympic Boat
    During the start of the war, the canadian navy were pretty trash with just one worn down cruiser on each coast and 600 mean on the team. Since it was in shambles, they used the H.M.S Olympic boat to transport their troops and equipment overseas. They often had to execute their training on board of the ship. If was really crowded and some men died while training due to poor living conditions while on the journey.

    After the start of World War 1, many scientists left their homeland to go fight for their country, making Canada’s involvement in scientific research scarce and limited.

    Agriculture during WW1 started to advance with new machines such as the gasoline tractor, combine harvester and much more. There were new technologies for pasteurization and refrigeration. As well as the rising population in canned meat, vegetables, and fruits. This helped provide food in popular urban areas

    Wireless communication was considered new and not really experienced. But wired communication was easily breakable due to artillery. During the fight in France in 1915, the Canadian division had only 8 wireless sets. Improvements in wireless communication started in 1917 when continuous wave sets set off greater range and smaller antennas. These new improvements helped a lot in future battles since communication is such a vital source in winning.

    In 1915, the town of Brantford, Ontario became the first municipality in North America to use an activated sludge plant. This was used for treating sewage where microorganisms were used to break down organic matter. This helps the environment since breaking down any type of solid in sewage water help preserve oxygen for plants

    George Foster had a list of people willing to replace scientists during WW1
    Sir George Foster presented to the Prime Minister of that time, Robert Borden a list of people to replace the missing scientists out at war. This was called the Honorary Advisory Council on Scientific and Industrial Research. They aimed to support and mobilize the scientific and technological development of Canada. Less than 50 people were part of the council.

    Canadian soldiers first used the Ross rifle, a very accurate long-range gun. But they were easily jammed due to the amount of mud in the battlefield. They then improved by switching to the Lee Enfield rifle which was the same thing as the ross rifle but just jammed less

This would help mining, pulp and paper, and aluminum processing as because they were often linked together. They also provided light and power to urban areas and factories
