    When new territories were aquired in the west, a lot of controversy came along with them. A big arguement was whether slavery should be aloud in these territories. This question formed many single goal parties like the Anti-Nebraska Whigs and Free Soilers. Compromises and acts were passed to help this issue like the Compromise of 1850 and the Kansas Nebraska Act.
