A decisive battle between the U.S. and Japan during WWII. This battle won by the U.S. was the start of the end of the war at least on the pacific side. However, with much of U.S. focus on defeating the Germans first the war lasts another 3 years. -

On this day Percy Spencer invented the first microwave oven. It was patented by Raytheon and called the Radarange. -
