1788 First fleet
Between 1788 and 1850 the English sent over 162,000 convicts to Australia in 806 ships. The first eleven of these ships are today known as the First Fleet and contained the convicts and marines that are now acknowledged as the Founders of Australia. -
1817 Austalia's first bank opened
The first bank established in Australia in 1817, it was called The Bank of New South Wales (which was then renamed as Westpac). Edward Smith Hall was the first cashier and secretary. This was very important to Australia because that means Australia is getting wealthier.
