The first Stampede took place. It featured roping and bronc events with competitors from throughout the North American West. Women participated in the saddlebronc and trick riding competitions. It lasted 6 days and over 100,000 people attended it. -
1913
Due to an economic depression followed by World War 1 the stampede could not continue to be an annual event. -
1919
The stampede was started again to celebrate the peace and the end of the First World War. -
1923
The stampede joined with the Exhibition to make the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. This was the first year the chuck wagons were a part of the stampede. -
1961
The Calgary Stampede Ranch is established to ensure quality bucking stock through its “Born to Buck” breeding program. -
1968
the show became 10 days long, 4 days longer than before. -
2015
Stampede gave out over $2 million in prize money this year.
