Gunboat Diplomacy
The use of gunboat diplomacy started when there were gunboats. You would put all of your warships off the coast and if they didnt think you were serious about getting something you let the boats do the talking -
Ironclad and battle
By defintion the word ironclad means "a wooden warship of the 19th century that is plated with iron or steel armor". They were armored vessels of the time and were used for naval and land battles. They gave a advantage to any side that could employ them because of the artillery mounted on the ship.
Ex: The Battle of Hampton Roads
The battle was between the U.S.S. Montior and the C.S.S. Virginia but as they were both ironclads the only real damage sustained was superficial.
