  • P.A.R.C v Pennsylvania

Case brought on behalf of 14 students who had been denied access to public education. At the time, Pennsylvania had a law stating that school systems could deny entry to any child who had not reached the mental age of 5. Schools were not allowed to deny education (appropriate to the learning abilities) to any person under 21. The state was also not allowed to change a student's status without due process. https://disabilityjustice.org/right-to-education/ Continued in paper
  • Honing V Doe

After disruptive and violent behavior, Doe was suspended indefinitely pending a decision on hi expulsion. Doe's parents brought a lawsuit saying that the disruptive behavior was related to his disability. As such, the student should "stay put" during any review proceedings. This case was intertwined with another. The court ruled that when school districts fail to provide services, the state must. https://www.britannica.com/topic/Honig-v-Doe continued on paper
