Latin Grammar Schools
The Latin Grammar school paved the way for public high schools. The first public highschool was in Boston, MA. These schools offered the basic curriculum such as Math, Reading, Writing, Science and History. -
Plessy VS. Ferguson
This was a landmark court case for the equality of African Americans. This was termed "Separate but Equal." The students may have had separate schools but required access to an equal education. -
Brown Vs. Board of Education
This was another education landmark case following the Plessy case and it was ruled unequal. Brown Vs. Board made it all the way to the supreme court and made schooling integrated. Schooling was now an equal opportunity at the same school as non- colored people. -
Individuals with Disabilities Act/ IDEA
This act was created to make sure children with disabilities have an equal access to education. The act would specifically use inclusive teaching methods so that the children don't have to be in all Special Education classes. -
No Child Left Behind
NCLB is a policy in which was created by President Bush. This law required that all students have the same access to education and couldn't be failed due to being low income or of color.
