First Public Library
The first public library gave people access to book and resources so they can learn beyond basic knowledge. This can lead to the beginning of secondary education.

First Normal School in Concord, Vermont
This was the beginning of learning to be an educator. Without this, many universities may not have the educator programs that they do today.

National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
This set standards for students and gave requirements to make sure students were learning the proper things to become a successful teacher. This gave universities today a base of where to start and base their curriculums off of.

Little Rock Nine
Allowed colored students to attend the same schools as white students. Creating an equal school environment for students, and to this day school have all races under one roof.

Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)
This act attempted to give students better access to education. Still a common problem today, but initially brought the issue of poverty and education to light.
