although this event took place two years before i was born you can still feel the affects of it today. Columbine was the first time schools really had to kick in gear and become a lot more focused on security. having to do lock downs and teachers debating whether barricading the door or not is beneficiary when an event should take place really gave someone like me a new perspective on public places and almost paranoid some days when i would go to school after a tragedy would happen. -
9/11
i was three months old when this event happened and i remember my mom telling me that, that year was the first year we didn't fly to California and we drove instead. living in a post 9/11 world things are a lot safer but that allows less room for jokes and to do bad stuff. these days teens can't be teens they have to grow up quick and i blame that on tragedy and 9/11 is what kicked things off really. -

Al-Qaeda were responsible for the attacks on the world trade centers. this was very huge in my life considering how frightened people were when it comes to terrorists and how badly we wanted to see the terrorist organizations of Osama Bin Laden dismantled. -

immediately after the attacks on the world trade centers the united states reacted to terrorist attacks planned in Afghanistan with a full fledged invasion. this affected me personally because it was the first time since world war 2's pearl harbor the united states had to react to a direct attack on american soil and so many lives were affected including lives in my family blood line. every single american that day felt that it was personal this time. -
