His reign last 39 years, 1 month and 18 days. He was the first king who never fought in a battle. As a result, he lost his dad´s (Henry V) french conquests, except the port of calais. In 1454, when henry became ill, Richard, Duke of York was made King of England. This led to the War of the Roses, where Richard was killed. His son, Edward IV removed Henry VI from the throne. In 1470, Henry VI returned to the English Throne. -

Margaret (wife) is defeated at the Battle of Tewkesbury. Her son who was Prince of Wales(Edward of Westminster), was killed in the battle. One day later, henry was murdered by being stabbed to death in the Tower of London and Edward IV became king.
