Helping Katniss

    Peeta gives Katniss bread behind the bakery. Katniss's family was starving. Peeta saw their need and gave her bread even though his mother beat him for doing that. Katniss will never forget this.

    Gale teaches Katniss how to make snares. Knowing how to make and use snares will help catch food to feed her family now and in the future. It also was a great skill to have in the Hunger Games.

    Cinna helps Katniss to be the best tribute she can be. Katniss is getting the audience on her side from the start with the help of Cinna. That will aid in getting sponsors and ultimately help in winning the Hunger Games.

    Rue points out tracker jacker nest to Katniss. If Katniss had decided to climb higher, the poisonous tracker jackers would kill her for sure. Rue pointed them out and Katniss later used them to her advantage.

    Peeta saved Katniss from Cato. After the tracker jacker incident, Cato had an opportunity to kill Katniss, but Peeta saved her and got injured badly in the process.

    Rue gave roots to Katniss to help her stings. Having the stings on her body could have been a big issue for the rest of the games. Rue helped Katniss learn how to heal the stings using roots. Katniss later used that skill to help Peeta.

    District 11 sent Katniss warm bread. Having food other than meat and roots brightened Katniss's day. They meant to say thank you for caring for Rue in her death.

    Haymitch sent sleeping syrup for Peeta. Having the sleeping medicine helped Katniss escape from Peeta. Peeta would have otherwise not let her risk her life to save him.

    Thresh saves Katniss from Clove and spares her life. Clove was going to kill Katniss but Thresh killed Clove. Thresh was about to kill Katniss but she explained to him that she helped Rue so he spared her life. (Thresh and Rue are from the same district.)

    The Capitol gives all tributes something they needed. At the cornucopia, the Capitol had something each remaining tribute really needed. Though it was done to create death and drama, it still helped Katniss save Peeta's life.

    Peeta takes care of the knife wounds that Katniss got from Clove. When Katniss went to retrieve Peeta's infection medicine, Clove cut Katniss's head with a knife. Peeta cared for Katniss's injuries.

    Haymitch sent lamb stew for Peeta and Katniss. Peeta and Katniss were both injured and unable to hunt. The weather didn't help their situation either. Haymitch, through sponsorship, saved them from possible starvation.
