1778: Captain Cook sailed to Hawaii and claimed that he 'discovered' it even though the Hawaiian's had already created a civilization there. -

1794: In 1794 Hawaii was placed under the protectorate(protective custody) of Great Britain. -

1795: In 1795 King Kamehameha I began to unify the islands. Starting in Nu'uanu. -

1819: In 1819 King Kamehameha Passes away after unifying all the islands. His son Liholiho becomes Kamehameha II. -

1840: In 1840 Hawaii adopted its first constitution. For rights of chiefs and people. -
Great Mahele Overthrow
1848: The great Mahele Overthrow was a time in Hawaii when the land was divided and gave private ownership commoners to claim their traditional family lands.

Queen Liliuokalani Dismissal
1893: Hawaii's kingdom began dissolving as Queen Liliuokalani was dismissed forcefully by foreigners to resign as Queen of Hawaii. Hawaii was later annexed as a U.S. territory. -
Hawaiian Flag Resigns
1898: The Hawaiian flag was taken down and replaced by the United States flag "Stars and Stripes".
