  • Beginning of the first Industrial Revolution

    The industrial revolution was the fall of animal and human labor in turn for machinery and industrial factories. Instead of creating and trading goods by hand, people were able to use machinery to mass produce products and trade efficiently. The Industrial revolution was one of the main reasons Great Britain became incredibly wealthy. They were able to import mass amounts of cotton, iron and steel and turned itself into an industrial nation.

    First British Settlement in Adventure Bay
    The arrival and settlement of the British in Adventure Bay was a turning point in the lives of the indigenous community of Tasmania. Sicknesses and violence towards the Aboriginal community killed almost the entire indigenous population that was living on the island before their arrival. The last Tasmanian Aboriginal woman, Truganini, died in 1876.
  • End of the Napoleonic Wars

    The Napoleonic wars took place between France, Britain, Russia and Prussia. Napolean led French armies and spread French influence all over the world before he and his army were defeated in the battle of Waterloo. After France lost the battle, Britain became the dominant global power of Europe and ended France's military conquest.
  • End date of the Age of Revolution

    The Age of Revolution was a period of time in which Europe went through a number of revolutions in areas such as political, social, war and economical. An example of a major revolution during this time was the French Revolution. Following the end of the French Revolution, Europe went through considerable economic and political change, namely the end to absolute monarchies and switch to republics. Overall, this period of time is credited to having great impact of the way modern Europe is today.
  • The shootout at Stringybark Creek

    The shootout at Stringybark Creek took place not long after Ned Kelly and his brother were outlawed after supposedly shooting an officer in the wrist. Ned, his brother and the rest of his gang were hiding nearby Stringybark and approached a group of officers looking for them in attempt to steal their firearms. Ned killed 3 officers while one managed to escape and relay the attack to the police. This story was changed over the years in effort to make Ned appear as an anti-hero over a villain.
  • Beginning of the Boxer Rebellion

    The Boxer Rebellion began in 1899 and ended in 1901. A group of Chinese, referred to as 'Boxers', created a movement against foreign influence in Northern China. The men fought against the spread of Christianity in their country and the westerner's ownership of land. The rebellion ended in Beijing after the foreign countries in China collaborated in order to defeat the Boxers.
  • The battle of Beersheba

    The men fighting in the Battle of Beersheba came from rural Australia and used horses to travel long distances with very little water. The Soldiers attacked Beersheba to use their water supply. The town was protected by Turks in trenches armed with many firearms. The Australian soldiers rode right over the heads of the men in trenches with their horses and went directly into the town. Their success was credited mainly towards the Turks' shock as to the number of soldiers on horses.
