The Haitian people got inspired to have freedom ever since the French Revolution of 1789. They wanted equality just like the French. -
Problems in Social Status
There were social classes that were unfair towards everyone in the community except for whites.

Haitian revenge
The revolts burnt down and destroyed French plantations on Saint-Domingue to show power. -
Haitian Revolt
This is when the whole revolution began because African Americans wanted their independence and freedom. -
Civil War
The Civil War decided weather Saint Domingue was controlled by Louverture or Rigaud. Louverture won, this lead to them rebuilding Saint Domingue. This made a big impact on the Haitian Revolution. -
End of Slavery
Slavery ends in Saint-Domingue. -
Toussaint L'Ouvertire
Toussaint was very important because he was the first former slave who now was a leader. He even had his own land. -
Battle of Vertières
The Battle of Vertières was the last major battle during the Haitian Revolution going against French and they won. -
Independance
The Haitian people finally got their independence from France. Jean-Jacques Dessalines announced their freedom.
