Proclamation of 1763
Issued by Britain to "appease Native Americans by checking the encroachment of European settlers on their land". Colonists were very unhappy because they died for this land which they are now prohibited from inhabiting. Colonists believed Britain was doing this to stunt colonial growth and make it reliant on the English crown. -
Pontiac's Rebellion (1763-1766)
A small group of Natives prompted by fear of losing French allies and colonists invading their land went against the British because they were dissatisfied with treatment from British officials. In 1764, tribes fell because they lacked weapons when they lost French allies. -
Boston Massacre
Colonists were unhappy with British Parliament due to the many new taxes imposed on them following the war, after the Townshend Acts (import duties: tea, glass, lead, paper, and paint) were imposed, colonists provoked British soldiers stationed in Boston to monitor them. British soldiers in Boston then opened fire on a group of American colonists killing 5 men. -
Boston Tea Party
After Parliament repealed the rest of the Townshend Acts and kept the tea tax, colonists boycotted British tea and illegally imported other un-taxed tea. Patriots protested by dressing as Mohawk Indians, raiding 3 British ships in the Boston harbor and dumping 342 containers of tea into the harbor.
