Guatemala Mission Trip 2015

  • Day 1

    Day 1
    The first day of building the volunteers met the family that would live in the house. The volunteers evened out the ground, dug a trench around the piece of land, and laid the foundation. They mixed concrete, water, rocks, and sand to make up the contents of the foundation, & started building walls while the foundation dried. That night there was worship time, devotions, and developed prayer partners.
  • Day 2

    Day 2
    Short five pairs of hands due to sickness, but volunteers pushed through. The second day they built most of the house. They manually hammered in all of the nails to construct the walls of the house. The house had one floor with three rooms. They had worship time, devotions, and prayer partners again.
  • Day 3

    Day 3
    Volunteers put in the electrical, the roof, and the windows.They made a walkway out of the leftover rocks leading up to the front of the house from the street. The family made volunteers a meal that the people of Guatemala only make for celebrations.
  • Day 4

    Day 4
    Volunteers officially dedicated the house to the family. A pastor from the community came and did a short devotion in Spanish. Volunteers presented the family with a bible that volunteers highlighted with all of their favorite verses. They gave the two oldest boys soccer balls signed by volunteers. Volunteers gave an emotional goodbye to the family.
  • Final Day

    Final Day
    The final day volunteers spent the day in Antigua, filled with shopping marketplaces. They also explored beautiful ancient ruins.
