    The book describes the first time period (1670-1680) in which Grover's Corners had its earliest tombstones on the mountain. The Stage Manager says that family names like the Grovers, Cartwrights, Gibbses, and Herseys that still have family members as citizens of the town in present day of the narration.

    The Dawes Act was enacted on February 8, 1887 regarding the distribution of land to Native Americans in Oklahoma.
    Named after its sponsor, U.S. Senator Henry L. Dawes of Massachusetts, the act was amended in 1891 and again in 1906 by the Burke Act. The act remained in effect until 1934.

  • Ford Model B is released (Time related event)

    In this year, Ford related its Model B as well as its Model C cars. Ford Model B was an upscale touring car introduced in 1904.
    It was Ford's first car to use the front-engine layout, with a large 24 hp 4-cylinder engine positioned at the front behind a conventional radiator (I have no idea what that means but it sounds really cool). The Model B was considered a high end car in its time and cars were luxuries.

By calling on this principle, he realized, he could avoid dealing with gravity as a force altogether. Move in the right way, by free-falling, and you don't feel gravity; you're weightless and gravity drops out of the picture. Pretty cool if you ask me.
