Trojan War
Summary- The Trojan War was between city of Troy by the Achaeans after Paris of Troy. It was won by the Greeks and the people of Troy. This was one of the most important wars in Greek mythology. The War lasted over 10 years until the Trojans fell right into the Greeks plan by dragging in their horse full of warriors. -

Trojan War pt. 2
Analysis- Odysseus won the Trojan war so him and his soldiers got a W in wars. This showed that Odysseus and his men could withstand being in a horse until the Trojans brought it in. This helps the theme of temptation because even if they were emptied to leave they didn’t. The Trojans were tempted to bring th horse in an they lost because of their temptation. Temptation which is the theme lead the Trojans in bringing in the horse which lead to the backfire of loosing the war. -

Cyclops
Summary- Cyclops is the son of Poseidon. Cyclops seems nice at first but then he turns very hostile and turns is back right away to Odysseus and his men. He devoured Odysseus’ men and left Odysseus and his other men for future food in a cave. Odysseus gets his men out by escaping unseen by the blind cyclops. -

Cyclops pt.2
Analysis- This helped/supported the theme of temptation because while being tempted to talk or make noice the men were all quiet. This showed the love that Odysseus had for his men and what he wold do so that they are all whole. Every stop Odysseus and his men are broken up more and more and it does not play a negative effect that we can see. He seems unfazed that his men are dying but definitely doesnt want it to happen. This helps us see that Odysseus will not stop till he has his men back. -

Lotus-Eaters
Summary- Once Odysseus and his men finally escape having lost six men per every ship. Zeus put a storm on them for nine days sending them to the land of the lotus eaters. Once getting to the land of the lotus eaters they eat intoxicating fruits of the lotus. Once doing this his crew lost all thought of what home was and could only think about eating more fruit. To get off the island it took Odysseus to drag his men off the ship and lock them up on the boat. -

Lotus-Eaters pt.2
Analysis- Odysseus’ men are caught by temptation. There temptation takes a big part in Odysseus’ men getting caught by the lotus eaters and they eat the lotus flowers and that was all temptation. Odysseus gets his men out from not letting temptation take over him. He is the only one that doesn’t eat the lotus fruit and is the one to save his men. This adds that Odysseus is the strongest out of all his men and does not let temptation take over his well being. -

Aeolus- Bag of Wind
Summary- Odysseus shipmates tear open the bag thinking that it is silver and gold. Which starts a storm that eventually brings them back to Aeolus. But once they are back Aeolus is saying that he knows fo sure that they other gods hate odysseeus. Afte this they turn to people that turn the scouts into the super. They got out because everybody’s ships got filled with boulders and snkbut odysseeus’ ship. -

Aeolus- Bag of Wind pt.2
Analysis- Temptations as the main reasons Odysseus and his ship were sent back to Aeolus. The shipmates were tempted to open the bag from greed of thinking it was money and it got them into more trouble. This showed that Odysseus’ shipmates could turn there backs on Odysseus a lot and it mostly gets them into trouble. Odyseeus got them out of this by loosing a couple men and leaving at the right time. This added that the greed of Odysseus’ men would make them later turn there backs on Odysseus. -

Circe
Summary- She was the goddess of sorcery and was highly talented at transmutation, illusion, and necromancy. When odyseeus came to her island she turned his men into beast. Until odyseeus got the help form Hermes he was unable to get his men from being beast. With the help form Hermes he overcame her and got his men from being beasts. -

Circe pt.2
Analysis- This shows that Odysseus will go to the ends of the earth to save his men and does not have a problem doing different things to save them. Odysseus went to another god just so that he could get his men back. This shows the close connection to odyseeus and his men to where he didn’t just leave them there he went out to save them. Odysseus shows how great of a leader he is to the shipmates and how he basically save them from being beast the rest of their lives. -

Sirens pt.2
Analysis- Odysseus doesn’t let temptation take a hold of his shipmates. But it almost gets a hold of him. He makes his man not be able to hear the sound because he knows it will make them vulnerable to temptation and he knows that they will lure right to it. What Odysseus gained from these places is to what he has to do when his men are at risk of being lured. -

Sirens
Summary- The sirens were dangerous creatures that lured people to them with there enchanting music. They were on a small island called Sirenum Scopuli. Odysseus plunged his men’s ears but didn’t plug is ears. The song that the sirens have is so baiting that Odysseus is wanting to be released form his fetters. After this they have to go threw the Scylla and Charybdis. -

Scylla and Charybdis
Summary- The Scylla and Charybdis are six headed monsters who swallow one sailor for each head. In all that means they swallow six sailors. The Charybdis is a whirlpool that swallows the entire ship of peoples ships. When Odysseus and his men do what Circe told him six of his sailors are taken by the Scylla. Then they move on to Thrinacia. -

Scylla and Charybdis pt.2
Analysis- Odysseus learned from this location is that he needs to use starategy with everything. He did not fall to temptation and although he lost six sailors it was something he had to do to get through this location. Although he loses 6 remembers he does not lose all to the whirlpool and he uses strategy to get around it. One thing that helps develop the theme is by the crew not falling to temptation. -

Helios’ cattle pt.2
Analysis- This impacts the theme because the theme of temptation makes Odysseus men drive off the best of the cattle. Odysseus lose respect from other gods even more because they think that he try to slay Helios’ cattle. We learned that as much as odysseus tells his crew they will always turn there backs to him and fall to the theme of temptation. This shows that as much as odysseus tells his crew they still fal to temptation. -

Helios’ cattle
Summary- Helios’ cattle was described as seven herds of oxen, seven flocks of sheep, each numbering fifty heads. In the odyssey the cattle is described as handsome, wide-browsed, fat, and curved-homed. The cattle’s are guarded by helios’ Daughter and lampetie. It was known that if any of the cattle was injured or hurt the he gods would bring down wrath. Circe warned Odysseus to shun the isle of Helios. Odysseus gets conflict since he slayed the cattle, the god Lampetie brought down vengeance. -

Suiters/Home pt.2
Analysis- What odysseus gained from this location was he gained his wife back and he gained he full loyalty. We learned that Odysseus will do anything for his wife and home back. This location shows that the suitors wee tempted to take Odysseus wife and money. But soon fell because odysses came back and easily beat them then killed them right after. -

Suiters/Home
Summary- The suitors came once everybody thought that Odysseus was dead and came to claim his money by getting married to odysseus’ wife. The suitors stayed in the house and when odysseus came back he immediately is heated. When the competition comes the suitors all lose, but odysseus comes and beats them all. Then once he beats them all he has a battle in his front yard. When the battle is won odysseus wife does not think he is who he is but is later prove wrong.
