In Ancient Greece, they had one of the most well known wars, The Trojan War. It lasted for about 10 years and the Trojans were winning. It wasn't until the Greeks used a giant wooden horse and defeated the Trojans once and for all. -
Greece becomes a country
The Greek War for Independence was from 1821-1829. Greece declared their independence on March 25, 1821, but had to fight for 9 years to gain their independence from the Turks. -
Greek Civil War
This Civil war was a fight against communists and the royalists, during the time German troops were there. The communist accepted defeat and did not vote, which meant a new king was put into place. -
Monarchy Abolished
The Greeks had many kings who were manipulating them and the government from 1830-1973. Eventually, they had had enough of it and deicied to vote to change their country's political system. -
Golden drachma to Euros
Greece's oringal currency was taken down in 2001 because of a rule. After the change drachmas wouldn't be accepted anymore.
