    Persian Wars

    When the Persian Empire failed to conquer Greece 3 times, the Persians vowed revenge on Athens after one of their colonies around Anatolia betrayed them by helping the Athenians rebel against the Persians. They had 3 main battles: Battle of Marathon, Thermopylae, and the Battle of Salamis. After the war, Greece was free from the Persians and Athens became a very wealthy and powerful place. We also got the Delian League as a result of the Persian Wars. From this comes the Golden Age of Athens.

    Golden Age of Athens

    After Greece's victory in the Persian Wars, the Prime Time of Athens happened. Athens was the leader of the Delian League, and became wealthy and powerful because of that. This was also the Golden Age of culture like Sculpture, Philosophy e.t.c. Pericles was the leader of the Athens and in his time, he increased democracy, created the strongest navy, and made Athens beautiful by building the Parthenon. Athens also had beautiful art, and theater which really helped shape who they were.

    Peloponnese Wars

    Athens became the leader of the Delian League, but became too powerful. As a result, other Greek city states wanted to leave the League because the Persian threat was gone. Athens would punish those who would leave, and because of this, the war broke out. Sparta created the Peloponnese League and Pericles lead Athens. Sparta won the war, but both city states are weakened and eventually Greece conquers both of them. Thucydides was a historian who wrote a true account of the Peloponnese Wars.

    Hellenism Culture

    When Greece was conquered by Alexander's empire he combined the knowledge and ideas of great empires like Greece, Persia, Egypt, and India to create a new culture called Hellenistic Culture. Alexandria, Egypt was the most important city as it was known as a city of knowledge where many important people from ancient have studied like Euclid, Hippocrates, and Archimedes. Hellenism also had very interesting art that represented the culture. They focused on realism (natural) ideas in their art.
