The Peleponician wars started because Sparta and a few other city-states didn't want to pay taxes since the Persians backed away. the Athenians didn't allow, this they forced them to pay taxes or else they would attack them and take over their land. the city-states didn't like this so they formed a league the peleponician league with Sparta as their leader.
