    Persian Wars

    The Persian wars were when the Persian empire was trying to conquer Greece, but they failed so they got revenge on Greece. Due to this, three battles occurred: Battle of Marathon, Battle of Salinas, Battle of Thermopylae. These battle took place in Marathon, Salinas, and Thermopylae. All these battles occurred because the Persian empire wanted to take over Greece. Overall Greek city-states came together and became more unified due to these wars.

    Golden Age

    Athens became wealthy during this time period. Athens became rich from conquering the Persian empire. During this time Pericles was the leader and helped increase democracy and helped glorify Athens. Art and Theater were a large part of this time period. The art in Athens was classical and portrayed ideal beauty, scenery, and youthful features. The theater had two forms: Tragedy and Comedy. Tragedy was serious drama about love and hate. Meanwhile comedies were humors and made fun of politics.

    Peloponnesian War

    The Peloponnesian war was fought by the Delian League (Athens) and the Peloponnesian league (Sparta). It started because Athens became too powerful and also created a strong navy. Athens eventually conquered and colonized the city-states with Athenian citizens. Pericles who was the leader of Athens brought all the citizens behind the city wall for protection. Later on, the plague has spread and 1/3 of the population dies. As a result Sparta wins the war and Athens looses political power.

    Hellenism

    Hellenism is the culture of Greece by a combination of four empires. It started from the combination of Greek influence with Eastern ideas which creates a new culture, Hellenistic. Alexandria, Egypt was the most important city for Hellenistic culture because Alexander The Great found it. Hellenism affected ancient Greece because it was based on a city of knowledge. Hellenism is showed through art and portrays emotion on the statues. Overall it helped understand Greeces passed life more.
