  • 1200 BCE

    Trojan War

    The Trojan War started around 1250 BCE and ended around 1184 BCE. The Trojan War was between the Greeks and the people of Troy. The Trojan War started because Helen, wife of Menelaus, was kidnapped. The Greeks made a plan to get her back by creating a large horse and giving it to Troy. They snuck into the horse and waited until the Troy's put the gift inside the walls. They fought the enemy and got Helen back.
  • 499 BCE

    The Persian Wars

    The Persian War started in 499 BCE and ended in 449 BCE. The Persian Empire tried to conquer Greece three times but failed. There were three battles. The Greeks won the first battle, Battle of Marathon. They lost the second battle, Battle of Thermopylae, due to a Greek traitor. And for the last war, the Battle of Salamis, the Greeks won and won the Persian War.
  • 431 BCE

    Peloponnesian War

    The Peloponnesian War started in 431 BCE and ended in 404 BCE. The Athens became too powerful so they built a powerful navy and traded empires. Pericles was the leader of Athens and brought all the citizens behind the city walls for protection. Later on, Athens undergoes a plague and majority of the population dies. Therefore, Sparta wins the war because both of the city-states were weak.
  • 323 BCE

    Alexander the Great Dies

    Alexander the Great died in 323 BCE. After the city-states were weakened, Alexander the Great's father conquered Greece. Alexander was smart and well-trained as a military officer. He was able to conquer Greece, Anatolia, Egypt, Persia, and India. After he conquered India, he shortly died right after because of malaria at a very young age.
