File and Wittles
The story begins when Pip is at the age of seven and he meets a convict that demands that he gets him food plus file and wittles to the ankle bracklet off of him. Pip demonstrates his loyalty by doing what the convict said and ot telling anyone about him. Pip learns for the first time and understands the meaning of survival and it is shown through the convict. -
Meeting Estella and Miss Havisham
This is when Pip meets one of the people that has a big impact in his life, this is Estella. He meets Miss Havisham who likes to stay out of the sunlight and she has a deep hatred of men. Her hatred of men comes all the way from her past where a man (Compeyson) walked out on her. She seeks revenge on them. She wants to casue pain to Pip and she does this through Estella, a girl the same age as him. She expploits his weaknesses such as making fun of him and his socail status. -
Pip Becomes Rich
A lawyer named Mr. Jaggers comes from London to tell Pip that a benefactor is going to be supporting him. He learns that he amasses a fortune. After learning this he becomes snobbish to people such as Biddy and Joe. However, when he leaves, he realizes how awful he treated the people that loved him the most. Pip becomes very sad when he realizes this. -
Meeting Herbert Pocket
This is the pale young gentleman that Pip met at the Satis House and had a fight with him. When Pip meets him they become the best of friends. Herbert tells important information about MIss Havisham to Pip, such as telling him about her revenge on men. Herbert Pocket becomes an important person in Pip's life becasue Herbert helps Pip learn about the ways of being a gentlemen. -
Magwitch Introduces Himself
The convict named Magwitch introduces himself to Pip telling himof who he is. Magwitch reveals that he is Pip's benefactor and the reason why Pip has become so rich. At first Pip was overwhelmed with all this information. Although, Pip realized who the convict was, he demonstrated his loyalty agai nby protecting the identity of Magwitch. Pip helps Magwitch go after Compeyson. -
Joe Marries Biddy
When Pip returns to Joe and Biddy to be with them again, he learns some good news and some bad news. The good news is that Biddy has taught Joe how to read and write. The bad news is that they both want to marry. Although this is bad news for Pip since he had deep affection for Biddy, still was proud for them since they are expressing their love for each other. Pip learns to love his family no matter what. -
Estella and Pip Meet Again
At the end of the book Pip goes back to the property that was once the Satis Home. When he is over there he meets Estella again. They talk about how Drummle and Estella are no longer together becasue Drummle is dead. Pip and Estella show a small amount of love for each other. This eventually leads to both of them leaving together suggesting that they will have a future together. This is a turning point for Pip since he will finally find happiness in his life.
