Oxygen
Joseph Priestley and Antoine Lavoisier had repeated multiple experiments using heat and glass to be able to see and discover oxygen and other gases. -
Electricity and Chemical Reactions
Humphrey Davy had discovered while conducting experiments that electricity could allow different chemical reactions to be created. When conducting his experiment he used potassium and sodium. -
Atomic Therory
John Dalton has discovered the atom and that each atom has its own atomic weight. His therory was that all matter is made of atoms. -
Organic and Inorganic Compounds
Fredrick Volta was mixing together two organic element when he had discovered he had created Urea crystals. He had crates these inorganicly, which had never been done before, he stated “I made Urea without a Kidney.” -
Atoms Signatures of Light
Bunson Kirkoff has discovered that different elements would change the color of a fires flame. This had led to the creation of a spectroscope, which allowed the discovery of new elements. -
Periodic Table of Elements
Dmitri Mendeleev had lined up the elements into groups and periods. The elements had lined up perfectly by weight and physically. He had wanted to create a “Map of Elements” which he later named the periodic table. -
Radioactivity
Henri Bequerel has found that the source of radioactive waves was the element Uranium. He had used naturally fluorescent minerals to study the properties of X-rays as well. -
The Electron
Joseph Thomson conducted an experiment allowing to indicate the charges of different atoms, leading to the discovery of the electron. The experiment was conducted by using a Crookes Tube. -
Plastics
John Hyatt had found that by using long strings of cellulose found in plants that he could create plastic. Leo Banklind had used different polymers to create the first 100% plastic material. -
Electrons Forming Chemical Bonds
Gilbert Lewis has developed a model explaining the electrons in their shells surrounding the nucleus. His model had showed how electrons could be shared between atoms. His model the Lewis Dot Diagram is still used today.
