Civilian Conservation Corps
This consisted of young men ages 18-25 that worked to build roads, trees, parks, and helped in soil-erosion and flood control projects. They got paid $30 a month. -
Agricultural Adjustment Administration
These guys sought to raise crop prices by lowering the production. Later the government granted it. -
Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA)
The header of this program is Hsrry Hopkins. This program funded $500 million towards the needy for direct relief. They helped furnish food and clothing for the unemployed, aged, and the ill. -
Federal Securities Act
This required corporaations to provide complete information of all stock offerings. -
Home Owners Loan Corporation
They pprovided government loans to home owners who face foreclosure just because they couldn't meet their payment loans. -
Federal Housing Administration
This agency furnishes loans for home mortgages. It was created by the National Housing Act. -
Securities and Exchange Commission
This regulated the stock market. Their goal was to prevent people from rigging the stock market from inside information. -
Rural Electrification Administration
They fiananced and worked with electrical cooperatives to bring electricity to isolated areas. In 1945, 48% of american farmers of rural homes had electricity, and it rose to 90% by 1949. -
National Labor Relations Board (Wagner Act)
They over heard testimony about unfair practices, and they held elections to find if workers wanted union representatives. -
Social Security Administration
This was created by the committee chaired by Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins. It provided insurance for retirees 65 or older (and their spouses), had an unemployment compensation system, and it gave aid to families with dependent children and people with disabilities. -
Fair Labor Standards Act
This established a minimum hourly wage, and also a maximum number of hours in the workweek for the entire country. It set rules for employment of under 16, adn banned hazardous work for those under 18.
