    Agriculture Adjustment Act (AAA)
    The Agriculture Adjustment Act was signed into order by President Franklin Roosevelt on May 12, 1993. Among some of the goals of this act were to limit crop production, reduce stock numbers, and refinance mortgages. This was in response to a surplus of crop production in the 1920s which drastically drove down prices.

    The overall effects of this bill caused farm income to rise 50% by 1935 compared to what it had been in 1932.
  • Food Security Act of 1985

    Food Security Act of 1985
    The Food Security Act worked to tackle several problems. It contained a program called Swampbusters, which denied farm benefits to producers who had converted wetlands into non-wetlands. It also started a program called the Conservation Reserve Program, which paid farmers to remove crops from their land that were highly erodable. This bill also added things like commodity price support and disaster payments.

    This reduced the program's previous requirement of giving away 2 billion worth of commodities down to 2 billion. It also stated that the US would not be using the program related to advance recourse loans.

    The agriculture improvement act of 2018
    The agriculture improvement act of 2018 increases Agriculture spending by 1.8 billion dollars. This will go to fund crop insurance, conservation programs, and commodity programs. This farm bill also made changes to SNAP by reducing fraud and requiring nationwide online acceptance of snap benefits. There were many other changes including changing the definition of what is considered rural and also what is considered marijuana.
  • The next US Farm Bill (following 2018)

    The House and Senate Agriculture will be meeting to discuss what worked from the 2018 Farm Bill and what did not. With midterm elections and many protests the next Farm Bill in 2023 will be one to follow.
