The Magna Carta was a document that proposed peace between King John and a group of rebel barons. It protected church rights, protected barons from illegal imprisonment, limited payment to the King, and created a council of 25 barons. -

Second Continental Congress
The Second Continental Congress started meeting in the summer of 1775. They were a conevention of delegates from the thirteen colonies, who met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, not too long after fighting in the American Revolutionary War had begun. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was the document signed by the Continental Congress that stated that the thirteen colonies were no longer a part of the British empire. -
Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation were adopted by Continental Congress on November 15, 1777. Although the Articles of Confederation weren't ratified by all thirteen states until March 1, 1781, they set the foundation of rules for America until March 4, 1789. -
Beginning of the Shays' Rebellion
In August, 1786, a revolutionary war veteran, Daniel Shays, led a group of rebels to rise up against Massachusetts' courts. They later went on to march on the US Federal Armory, and unsuccessfully attempted the overthrow the government. -
Philadelphia Convention
The Philadelphia Convention, also known as the Constitutional Convention, was a series of meetings that took place to address the problems in the United States. The initial purpose was to revise the Articles of Confederation, but it eventually led to the creation of a new government for the USA. -
Virginia Plan
The Virginia Plan was a proposal from Virginia delegates for a bicameral legislative branch. The plan was created by James Madison, who proposed it at a meeting of the Consitutional Convention. -
