Magna Carta
Description: The Magna Carta was meant to prevent the king from abusing his power while the people suffer.
A) King John and the feudal barons signed the Magna Carta.
B) It was signed in Runnymede near Windsor Castle. -
Mayflower Compact
Description: The Mayflower Compact was the agreement that the pilgrims signed when they first landed in the new world.
A) It was the laws of the new world until a government was put in place. -
Petition of Rights
Description: Declaration of rights and liberties of the people assented by Charles I in the beginning of his reign.
A) 1)that no freeman should be forced to pay any tax, loan, or benevolence, unless in accordance with an act of parliament;
2)that no freeman should be imprisoned contrary to the laws of the land;
3)that soldiers and sailors should not be billeted on private persons;
4)commissions to punish soldiers and sailors by martial law should be abolished.

Description: After the French and Indian war, King George III took power.
A) He changed the relationship in a negaative way, he thought Americans were still under British rule but Americans wanted more freedoms. -
French and Indian War
Description : The French and Indian war was a war between Frace and Great Britain known as the Seven Years War (1754-63)

Description: The Stamp Act was used to collect money to help pay for the troops stationed along the Appalachian Mountains.

Description: Colonists threw snowballs at British soldiers so they opened fire.

Description: General Gage had a plan to attack Lexington and Cocord but his plans got leaked.

Declaration of Independence
Description: Written by Thomas Jefferson and adopted by the Second Continental Congress, states the reasons the colonies wanted independence. It also states the list of freedoms they wished to have aquired. -

Description: The first constitution of the United States.
A) Congress and its delegates at the time had the most power but it was George Washington. -
Start of Constitutional Convention
Description: A combination of all the plans that were written and the start of the American Constitution.
