French and Indian War ends
The war began in 1754 with conflict stirring between the British & the French. In the end, Great Britain ultimately won the battle in 1763 gaining much of the North American territory. -

The Boston Massacre was a confrontation in which British soldiers shot & killed several people while being harassed by a mob in Boston. The event struck the attention of well known Patriots such as Paul Revere and Samuel Adams. -

When it was repealed they made sure to take the taxes away from everything except for tea. -
Tea Act Passed
Due to the British East India Company Tea reportedly losing money, the British Parliament monopolized a tax on import of tea. This created an outrage in the colonies leading to another event soon to come. -

Coercive Act Passed
Relating to the Townshend Act, the Coercive Acts was a series of laws passed by the British Parliament relating to Britain's colonies in North America. It was a direct response to the Boston Tea Party, punishing those involved in the event & a warning to the other colonies. -
First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress was a meeting of delegates from 12 of the 13 British colonies that became the United States. Being comprised of delegates from the colonies they met in 1774 to discuss the reaction & action set upon by the Coercive Acts. -
Revolutionary War Begins
The Revolutionary War began with a confrontation between British troops & local militia at Lexington & Concord, Massachusetts, on 19 April 1775. The confrontation led to gunfire between the two & was the beginning of an important American War. -
Second Continental Congress
As a response to the Revolutionary War beginning, a Second Continental Congress was set to be attended. It was to be constructed when the British failed to address the grievances of the First Continental Congress & to organize a Continental Army to fight. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. This document not only declared Independence from England but it summarized the colonists' motivations for seeking independence.
