First Golf courses are opened in the United States. Golf was strictly a european sport until then. USA was becoming less like europe until they adopted the game of Golf. -
Golf is played in the 1900 Paris Olympics
This is the first time golf is in the olympics and women and men are both allowed to compete in the games. -
Rubber core golf ball introduced
Golf balls now cost less to buy allowing the game to grow across the country. GOlf also grew rapidly during the roaring 20's. -
Women excluded from Olympics
Women for exluded from these olympics after being alloed to compete 4 years earlier. WOmen were exluded from many things at this time. The womens suffrage women would soon begin as a result. -
Woodrow Wilson Plays Golf
During the Influenza breakout, the presidents doctor played golf with him so he would get some exercise to build up his immune system. -
GOlf expands greatly during the 1920s
American people were doing great during this time. GOlf expanded across the country along with the automobile and many other teams. -
First Ryder cup
This is a golf tournament where USA faces Europe. USA used to be controlled by a european counry and battled them for their independence. The Ryder cup is played every 2 years, alternating between USA and Europe as a host. -
Steel shafted clubs created
These clubs made the game easier, however golf did not expand much when they were first created because of the Great Depression. -
First Masters
This is the most prestigous tournament in golf. The host course augusta national did not allow women to become members until 2012.
