Globalization's Affects Globalization has affected the world in many ways, from politically, to culturally, and as well has effects on the poor which are in poverty, and sometimes can get them on the right track, and back to living a normal life.

Background Information of Globalization
"Globalization is not just an economic phenomenon, but a political, cultural, military, and environmental one as well. Nor is globalization new; networks of interdependence spanning continents were increasing rapidly in the decades before the First World War as the steam engine and the telegraph reduced the cost of transportation and information. What distinguishes globalization today is the speed and volume of cross-border contacts." (Daalder, Ivo H., and James M. Lindsay) -
The Start of Wage Inequality
"The societies we all live in are distributing the benefits of globalization and economic processes extraordinarily unfairly. It is a well-documented fact that since the 1980s and 1990s, for example, wage inequality has increased in many countries around the world." (Ryder, Guy) To begin sustainable globalization, fixing WAGE INEQUALITY will seriously help many countries, as some workers barely receive enough pay to live throughout each year. -

Poverty Rates Declining
"Large numbers of people have been raised out of extreme poverty over the past few decades, particularly in India, China, and Indonesia. Bardhan states, Between 1981 and 2001 the percentage of rural people living on less than $1 a day decreased from 79 to 27 percent in China, 63 to 42 percent in India, and 55 to 11 percent in Indonesia." (Molloy) Bardhan states that the amount of poverty rates have gone down significantly in many different countries, and this has been very good toward them. -
Making Peace with other Countries
"During the 1990s, American foreign policy focused on consolidating its success. Together with its European allies, the United States set out to create, for the first time in history, a peaceful, undivided, and democratic Europe. That effort is now all but complete." This states how the U.S. has completed it's effort in making peace with Europe, which allows them to export items and materials with each other, allowing for each country to benefit in a positive way.(Daalder, Ivo H., and Lindsay.) -
Background Information of Globalization (pt. 2)
This explains how quickly countries can contact each other, whether it's by Skype, email, a phone, or any other way of contact, which allows for transportation of items to be very fast, such as by using planes. -
The New Era of Global Politics
"September 11 signaled the end of the age of geopolitics and the advent of a new age—the era of global politics. The challenge U.S. policymakers face today is to recognize that fundamental change in world politics and to use America’s unrivaled military, economic, and political power to fashion an international environment conducive to its interests and values." This is stating how politics have been effected due to terrorist attacks, and explains how the U.S. can be put in sticky situations, -
The New Era of Global Politics (pt. 2)
due to the fact that other countries start wars, causing the military and the government to get involved, causing wars after wars to begin. This also hints at how the government and our president have a large amount of blame of this, due to no pre-mature warnings for this single terrorist attack (911), and were to "blame" for many deaths, and this was just a small event in history in which it has effected that world politically. (Daalder, Ivo H., and Lindsay) -
Globalization Positive or Negative?
"Antiglobalizers’ central claim is that globalization is making the rich richer and the poor poorer; [while] proglobalizers assert that it actually helps the poor." According to economic and political writer Doug Bandow, "Some critics of globalization have contended that the process has helped the rich and hurt the poor. However, the best research indicates that this is not accurate: ‘Poverty is falling rapidly in those poor countries that are integrating into the global economy." (Molloy) -
Globalization Positive or Negative? (pt. 2)
Personally, I believe that globalization has affected the poor positively, as the global poverty rate has reduced. "Today, we estimate that there are approximately 820 million people living on less than $1.25 a day. This means that the prime target of the Millennium Development Goals… was probably achieved around three years ago." (Molloy, Baylee) This quote explains how, in 2011, the amount of people living with less than $1.25 a day was a lot lower than years before. -
Wage Inequality Needs to be Solved
"In Europe, the top 10% of best paid employees take on average 25.5% of the total wages paid to all employees in their respective countries, which is almost as much as what the lowest-paid 50% get (29.1%)." (Ryder) This statement explains how poorly the bottom 50% of the population is paid, showing how countries need to improve their wages and pay.
