Columbus Sails to the Americas
In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. His landing in the Caribbean was a significant event in relation to imperialism. He sailed for the Spanish throne, in attempt to grow their empire's sphere of influence. -

Tenochtitlan Falls to the Spanish
In 1521, Cortes invaded the Tenochtitlan and captured their ruler Moctezuma and told him to give over his empire and their riches which is related to imperialism and by force he gave it up and and Cortes dominated the empire but most of them died anyways because of a disease known as smallpox. -

Controlling Trade
When it came economics, Spain controlled their trades. Their most special goods were silver and gold. Colonists were able to export raw materials. Laws forbidden colonist from trading with European nations or Spanish colonies. -
Competing for Colonies
French were claiming Canada and Central America. The Spanish were claiming Florida and Texas. The English and Dutch claimed the East Coast. There was competition in the Caribbean when it came Europeans fighting over colonies that produced sugar. -
Triangular Trade
In 1619, the first cargo of Africans arrived in the Americas because of Triangular Trade which deals with merchant ships bringing European goods such as guns, cloth, and money to Africa and the merchants traded the goods for slaves. Then the slaves went to the Americas and were traded for molasses and sugar, etc and the sugar and molasses and other supplies were shipped to Europe where I'm guessing they sold those to make profits for the goods that Africans needed, -
Bitter Rivalry Turns to War
The British and the France were going at it for 7 years. France won several victories until the British attacked Quebec, frances capital, in 1759. The war ended though in 1763.
