Realpolitik
Realpolitik is a system of thought used by Bismarck to unite the German states. It was developed with realistic goals and and measures based on the state. In the future, this foreign policy would strengthen the power of the Prussian Hohenzollerns dynasty. In my opinion, this is the most decisive event that let to German unificiation because it all started with this beleief which furthered German unification. -
"Blood and Iron"
The 'Blood and Iron" speech given by Bismarck signified that there will be no giving up. Bismarck said he was willing to continue on fighting to keep Germany united. This prbably opened up people's eyes and they noticed that Bismarck and his army are not giving up easily. -
War Against Denmark
This was a victory war. Bismarck won Prussia two providences. They were both in Denamrk and the providences were Schleswig and Holstein. This was the starting point of a strengthening Germany. -
Austro-Prussian War
This war lasted about 7 weeks, winning another vicotry for Bismarck and his army. In this war, Prussia annexed momre land than they ever had before which they got in the north of Austria. -
Franco-Prussian War
Led by Bismarck, in this war, Bismarck used nationalism to spark an ill feeling towards France generated from the invasions of Napoleon earlier on. This war lasted around 9 monnths. -
Bismarck's Strives to Unify
After realpolitik, Bismarck decided he need to acheieve his goals by military strength. Once he did that and created a strong army, he then pursued an aggressive foreign policy.
