Treaty signed
In 1884 Karl Peters a German adventurer signed treaties with local rulers on the east coast of Africa. -
Bismark's Approval
Karl Peters went to Germany to claim East Africa territory. As a result Bismark accepted Karl Peters treaties and it was officialy called German East Africa. -
GEAC Failure
The German East Africa Company did not do so well. It caused local revolts and all the wquipment got destroyed so the goverment had to take over. -
Tension between Germany and Zanzibar
The tension between Germany and Zanzibar ended in 1890 with a treaty between the two European countries. -

Germany eastablished schools in 1903. -
Taking Control
German goverment used its colonial administration army to suppress indigenous revolts. Also to fight with the British during World War I. -

In 1905 the Maji Rebellion occured but it was put down by the governer, -
Lost Battle
Germany lost the war under the provisions of the Treaty Of Versailles. -
Germany Lost
Rwanda was given to the Portuguese goverment and most of the land was given to the British.
