    The Charter of 1732
    Georgia received its official charter. According to the charter, Georgia's main purposes were to help the unemployed and poor in England and to increase Britain's wealth and trade. Although not stated in the charter, Georgia was also used as a buffer for South Carolina against Native American attacks.

    Banished from Germany, protestant Germans migrate to Georgia after being allowed by King George, who is actually German as well.
  • England Declares War on Spain

  • Battle of Bloody Marsh.

    The Spanish advanced close to Fort Frederica, where a group of British soldiers hidden in the woods started to fire upon the Spanish. The Spanish fled, but scouts alerted Oglethorpe, as the British followed the Spanish. The British troops then hid in the bushes as the Spanish reappeared. The British then fired upon the Spanish, and at the end, many of Spanish had died, while the British only suffered one causality The Spanish afterwards, didn't disturb the colony of Georgia.

    Oglethorpe leaves Georgia to return to England, and never comes back. 48 yr old Oglethorpe marries shortly after to Elizabeth Wright.

    Trustees Loosen Laws

    In 1750, the law prohibiting the owning of slaves is dropped. The same year, the Trustees also allowed colonists to elect people to speak for the colonists. The following year in 1751, Georgia's first representative assembly meets, and in 1752, the Trustees transfer control of the colony back to England.

    John Reynolds, captain of the British Navy, sails from England to Georgia to become the first governor.
  • John Reynolds's Replacement

    John Reynolds's Replacement
    John Reynolds wasn't well liked by the colonists, or considered a good governor. After two years, John Reynolds was replaced by Henry Ellis. Henry Ellis is known for teaching the people more about self-governing, and by creating a friendship with Tomochichi, the chief of the Yamacraw Indians. Tomochichi and Henry Ellis communicated through Mary Musgrove, a half Creek half British trader.
  • Henry Ellis's Replacement

    Due to old age, Henry Ellis left the colony of Georgia, and James Wright became the new governor. James Wright was known for keeping Georgia out of the Revolutionary War for a few years.
  • Revolutionary War Begins

    After nearly two decades, James Wright is captured by patriots and then flees back to England after escaping.
  • Oglethorpe leads an invasion into Florida.

    Oglethorpe leads an invasion into Florida.
    Just north of St. Augstine, they found two forts, and managed to capture Fort Diego. The other was Fort Mose, a black miltia unit who were Carolina slaves who had escaped to Florida.
