The Mississippian Indians were the most advanced civilization. They stayed in one place (villages) due to advanced agriculture. These Indians had first contact with Europeans. -

Hernando De Soto
Hernando De Soto was born in Jerez de los Caballeros, Spain. De Soto went to North America where he discovered the Mississippi River in 1539. De Soto later on died on May 21, 1542 due to a fever in Ferriday, Louisiana. -
Charter of 1732
During the first twenty years of Georgia it was called Trustee Georgia. It was called this because at the time a Board of Trustees governed the colony. In 1732, King George signed a charter to establish the colony and create a government. -
Oglethorpe Arrives
James Oglethorpe was born in London England, his parents were Eleanor and Theophilus Oglethorpe. Oglethorpe later on went to King George II to discuss creating a new colony for everyone in jail due to debt. King George ll agreed to this and let him create a colony called Georgia in the "New World." -
Salzburgers Arrives
The Salzburgers came to Georgia because they got kicked out of Europe. They were kicked out because they did not change their religion to Catholic. King George and Oglethorpe was nice enough to let them settle in Georgia. -
Highland Scots Arrive
The Highlanders settled in the north mainland and islands of Scotland. They moved in large organized groups directly from their homeland to the North Carolina Colony. They came to Georgia to protect the new colony from Spanish threats. -

American Revolution
The American Revolution was a war between the patriots and loyalists. The patriots wanted independence from the British, but many patriots lost their lives because of this war. The pain and suffrage paid off because the U.S. soon became independent. -
Battle of Kettle Creek
It was fought Wilkes County eight miles from present day Washington, Georgia. They begun this fight because Savannah was captured by British expeditionary. The Patriot Malitia force defeated the Loyalist militia. -
Constitutional Convention
The Constitutional Convention took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The main point of the event was America finding out what kind of government they were going to be. Although it was originally created to discuss Articles of Confederation, many people had much bigger plans. -
Georgia Ratifies Constitution
They elected six delegates to go to the convention. Only four went though. Baldwin and William Few were the only Georgia delegates who signed the constituion. -
Austin Dabney
He was a slave who fought against the Revolutionary War. He moved with Richard Aycock in the 1700s. He was wounded in the war and Giles Harris took him in to care for it.
