Paleo Culture
The Paleo Culture existed 12,000 years ago. They hunted for their food. Things they used for the large spear head and a clovis. Things they ate is moose, elk, bispn, ground sloth, wild horses, mammoth, and saber tooth tiger. -

They used mounds for burials and religious purpose. They began to form tribed, live in areas for longer perids, and began focus or religion began to from villayed. They began to experiment with growing food such as sunflowes, squash, ground beans, maze (corn). For their tools they used are pottery and bow-arrows. -

They ate nuts, berries, fish, deer, turkey, bear, shell fish, and cysters. Seasonal migratons they returned every year to the same spots in each season. They used simple pottery and axes. spear heads are thinner smaller and more pointed. They used caves or pit house, or rooms under ground for shelter. It stated inn 8,000 BC and ended in 1,000 BC. -

They were the first geoup that was successful at living off of agriculture such as corn, beans, and squash. It existed from 1,000 AD to 1,600 AD. -

A charter is a legal document that grants special right. Iss used by King George, The chateres excluded catholics, black, lawyers, and out lowed liquor. According to the charters, trustees could not pass laws without the King's peermission. -
Georgia founded by James Oglethorpe
He argued for prison reform and speak out against slavery in any way. In 1722, he became a member of the British Parliament. People would go to the citides and up and leave their farms. There was not enough remaing farmsso they could not produce the food that every one needed . Many people where homless and with out work because the cities where overcrouded. -

The Salzburgers and their descendants have played an important role in the history of the State of Georgia and the United States of America. -
Highland Scots Arive in Georgia
The highland Scots were recruited by James Ogletorpe to help protect the new conoly from the Spinsh. They were from Scotland and were considered to be great warriors. The Scots were big, strong and were not afraid of anything. They settled in a city they would name Darien. -

Henry Ellis
He was the second founder of Georgia. People in Georgia learned how to govern themselves. They grected him with enthusiasm when he arrived. In 1758 sponsored legislation that divided the province into eight parishes. Poor health forced Ellis to leave Georgia in November 1760. -

James Wright
He was the third and and last royal governor of Georgia. He was popular and able aministor and servant of the crown. He played a key role in returning the flame of revolution in Georgia. Long after it had flored violently in every other colony. -
University of Georgia founded
When the University of Georgia was incorporated by an act of the General Assembly it ecame the first state to charter a state-supported university. The General Assembly had set aside 40,000 acres of land to endow a college or seminary of learning in 1784. -
Constitional Covention of 1787
The Constitutional of Convention of 1787 was a meeting of all of the the states in Philadelpia to descuss changes that needed to be made to the Articles of covention. Representives form each state were there and took part in writing the U.S. consitution. Abraham Balwin and William Few were Georgia's representatives. -

Eli Whitney Cotton Gin
The invention of the cotton gin was to make the job easier to those who worked at the gin. It was invented by Eli Whitney it was a machine to seperate the cotton seeds from the cotton plant. Before it, it would take houndred of hours to seperate seeds from the fibers. -
Dahlonega Gold Rush
No one is really certain who made the first discovery or when the gold was found in or near Dahlonega. There are several popular stories on who or how it was found. Along Duke's Creek in Habersham County (present-day White County) John Witheroods found a three-ounce nugge. -
Indian Removal Act
President Jackson signed the act on May 28, 1830. It removed all the indiand from U.S. land to lands west of the mississippi River. The removel was forced not voluntary. This rwsulted in the trail of tears. -
Worcester v. Georgia
They held the case inthe Cherokee Indians constituted a nation holding distinct sovereign powers in 1832. The case did not stop the Cherokee Indians from being removed from there homeland in the southeast. Throw out the 1820s and 1830s the Cherokee Indians pushed to keep their land in the southeast. -
